Boys Basketball Season Recap 2024
The Ridgeview Boys’ Basketball team has wrapped up another thrilling season, marked by growth, dedication, and resilience. From humble beginnings to catching the attention of outsiders, this season was one for the books.
The journey began with a team eager to prove themselves, many with little prior experience on the court. Yet, under the guidance of a handful of excellent coaches (Coach O’Neil, Coach Worley, Coach Giles, Coach Reifinger, and Coach Robideaux) they quickly found their footing and secured impressive victories over Ascent Classical Academy and Dayspring Christian Academy. With each game, these young men not only honed their basketball skills but also developed into admirable individuals, learning the value of sportsmanship and grace in both victory and defeat. At the end of the regular season, Hoplites were seeded 6th in the league with a 7-5 overall record.
In the quarter-final championship game against the Ascent Archers, the Hoplites fought tooth and nail, refusing to back down until the final buzzer. Though victory eluded them that day, their valiant effort and unwavering spirit earned them the respect and admiration of their Ridgeview community. Ridgeview will feel the absence of our eighth-grade leaders on the team as they transition into high school. We wonder, who will step up and fill the shoes of our defensive geniuses Tommy O. and Thomas R? Who will the team look to pass the ball to when Oliver S. isn’t constantly on the move to become open to take a shot?
Behind the scenes, Coach O’Neil’s unwavering dedication and selflessness shone brightly. He went above and beyond, organizing additional practices to nurture the skills of younger players and even coaching weekend club games, all while ensuring every member of the team had transportation to every game. His efforts and generosity have left an indelible mark on the Ridgeview basketball program.
Looking ahead, the future of Ridgeview basketball is bright under the continued guidance of Coach Worley, whose infectious energy and passion for the game inspire both plays and fans alike. With the lessons and skills learned this season, the Ridgeview boys’ basketball team stands poised to achieve even greater success in the seasons to come.
